Biography

Dr. Shreeram Akilesh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington. He serves as the Medical Director of the Immunofluorescence Laboratory and Director of the Digital Spatial Profiling Core Facility. Dr. Akilesh's research focuses on applying genomic tools to analyze the development, structure, and function of kidney component cells in health and disease. He has received the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Fellowship from 2013 to 2016 to support his studies in this area. Dr. Akilesh has board certifications in Pathology and has held various academic appointments at the University of Washington, including Assistant Professor and Acting Instructor in the Department of Pathology. He completed his fellowship in Renal Pathology at the University of Washington and his residency in Anatomic Molecular Pathology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Akilesh obtained his MD and PhD in Immunology from Washington University in St. Louis and his BA in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Dartmouth College.
