Biography

Shu Shiuh-Shi Lin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at Duke University Medical Center, with additional roles in the Department of Pathology and as an Assistant Research Professor in Integrative Immunobiology. His research focuses on the challenges associated with transplantation, particularly in cardiac and pulmonary settings. Lin's laboratory examines chronic allograft failure and strategies to improve long-term graft survival in heart and lung transplantation. His work includes investigating mechanisms of chronic rejection, such as bronchiolitis obliterans, and exploring immunologic tolerance to reduce morbidity associated with conventional immunosuppressive treatments. In addition, he researches xenotransplantation as a potential solution to donor organ shortages.
