Biography

Shubhayu Chatterjee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University. He focuses on Condensed Matter Theory and Quantum Information Sciences. Shubhayu earned his PhD in Physics from Harvard University in 2018 after completing an Integrated MSc in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2012. His research interests are centered around quantum many-body physics, strongly correlated electronic systems, quantum simulators, and quantum sensing. Prior to his appointment at CMU, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Physics at the University of California, Berkeley from 2018 to 2022. Shubhayu has received several honors, including the PQI Community Collaboration Award in 2023, the Harvard GSAS Merit Research Fellowship for the 2016-17 academic year, and the President's Gold Medal from IIT Kanpur in 2012. His research has been published in various renowned journals, outlining significant contributions to the field.
