Biography

Shuchi Chawla is an Endowed Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin and an Amazon Scholar. A theoretical computer scientist, she specializes in algorithm design and the economics of computation. Shuchi earned her Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University and her B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Before joining UT Austin, she spent 15 years as a professor in the Computer Science department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has held visiting positions at the University of Washington and Microsoft Research. Shuchi has served as Program Committee Chair for SODA 2020 and EC 2021 and is currently on the editorial boards of the ACM Transactions on Algorithms and the ACM Transactions on Economics and Computation. Her research interests include approximation online algorithms, algorithmic game theory, mechanism design, data-driven algorithm design, combinatorial stochastic optimization, algorithmic fairness, and algorithmic issues in networks and systems.
