Dr. Shuiwang Ji

Biography

Shuiwang Ji is a Professor at Texas A&M University, in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, holding the Truchard Family Endowed Chair and the title of Presidential Impact Fellow. He has been recognized as a Fellow by both the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2023 and the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) in 2022. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Arizona State University in 2010. His research interests are at the intersection of machine learning and artificial intelligence, focusing on language models and intelligent agents, which drive significant advances in both theoretical and applied aspects of these fields. Over the years, he has earned several prestigious accolades, including the Dean Engineering Excellence Award from Texas A&M University in 2024 and the Computer Science and Engineering Graduate Faculty Teaching Excellence Award in 2021. His work has also been recognized in the field through his contributions to the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, having published numerous popular articles between 2016 and 2021. In addition to his teaching and research, he actively contributes to his professional community and is committed to promoting advancements in engineering education and research transmission.
