Biography

Mike Shuo-Wei Chen received his B.S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1998 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley in 2002 and 2006, respectively. He has been an associate professor in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC) since then, where he holds the Colleen Roberto Padovani Early Career Chair position. He leads a research group focused on analog mixed-signal circuits, tackling circuit system design issues in wireless, wireline, and biomedical applications. His research has led to significant developments in high-speed, low-power data converters, clock generation, and RF power amplifiers. Dr. Chen has authored several notable architectures, including an asynchronous SAR ADC that has found application in industry. His work at Atheros Communications (now Qualcomm) involved developing mixed-signal RF circuits for wireless communication. He serves as an associate editor for prestigious journals and is active on various technical program committees. He has received multiple awards, including the NSF Faculty Early Career Development Award and the DARPA Young Faculty Award, and is recognized for his contributions to the electrical engineering field.
