Biography

Mike Shuo-Wei Chen received a B.S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1998, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2002 and 2006, respectively. He is a Professor in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC), where he holds the Colleen Roberto Padovani Early Career Chair position. Dr. Chen leads an analog mixed-signal circuit group that focuses on circuit system design problems for wireless, wireline, and biomedical processor applications. His research includes high-speed low-power data converters, clock generation, RF power amplifiers, and bio-inspired computing circuits. He has made significant contributions to the field with innovations in architecture for data converters, and his asynchronous SAR ADC architecture has been adopted for low-power high-speed analog-to-digital conversion products in the industry. Previously, Dr. Chen worked with the Analog IC Group at Atheros Communications (now Qualcomm), where he contributed to the development of mixed-signal RF circuits for wireless communication products. He serves as an associate editor for renowned journals and is an active participant in various professional conferences. Throughout his career, Dr. Chen has been recognized with many prestigious awards, including the NSF Faculty Early Career Development Award and the DARPA Young Faculty Award.
