Shuolong Yang is an Assistant Professor at the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago since 2018. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Stanford University and pursued a Ph.D. in Applied Physics also at Stanford. Prior to joining the University of Chicago, Yang was a Kavli Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell University, focusing on the interface between condensed matter physics and materials science. His research primarily revolves around Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Materials Engineering, and Ultrafast Photoemission Spectroscopy, with a keen interest in utilizing molecular beam epitaxy to engineer quantum materials layer-by-layer. His work explores the electronic properties of materials and the quantum phenomena emerging at material interfaces, including interfacial superconductivity and topological orders. Yang has been recognized with the Department of Energy’s Early Career Research Program award and the NSF CAREER award for his significant contributions to the field.
