Biography

Shwetak currently serves as the Washington Research Foundation Entrepreneurship Endowed Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Washington. He directs research areas including Human-Computer Interaction, Ubiquitous Computing, and Sensor-Enabled Embedded Systems, with a particular emphasis on application computing for health sustainability. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech in 2008, where he was also a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow. Shwetak is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards including the MacArthur Fellowship, Sloan Fellowship, Microsoft Research Faculty Fellowship, and the MIT TR-35 Award. Additionally, he has been recognized as an ACM Fellow and has received the World Economic Forum Young Global Scientist Award. He is a co-founder of several companies focused on innovative technologies, including Zensi, SNUPI Technologies, and Senosis Health, which have made significant contributions to home energy monitoring and mobile health solutions.
