Biography

Dr. Shyam S. Chaurasia’s lab focuses on translational research programs to understand the molecular basis and mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of neovascular retinal diseases, including retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), and diabetic macular edema (DME). His long-term goal is to identify key proteins and pathways to target and reinstate neuronal and vascular cells affected by the pathophysiology of retinal diseases. With a solid educational background including a PhD in Life Sciences from Devi Ahilya University, postdoctoral training in Neuroscience/Ophthalmology from Emory University, and a strong foundation in Biochemistry, Dr. Chaurasia is committed to advancing the understanding and treatment of vision-related disorders.
