Sibel Alumur Alev is a tenured full Professor in the Department of Management Science and Engineering at the University of Waterloo. She received her Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering from Bilkent University in 2009 and subsequently served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Operations Research, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany. She has served as a board member for the EURO Working Group on Locational Analysis and as President of the INFORMS Section on Location Analysis. Currently, she is the Vice-President of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS) and serves as Editor-in-Chief of IFORS and as a Senior Associate Editor for the journal Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, among other editorial roles. Her research interests focus on optimizing facility locations in logistics operations, with an emphasis on hub location and design, supply chain management, and reverse logistics networks.
