Biography

Siddhartha Srinivasa is a Professor at the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington, and an IEEE Fellow. He is a full-stack roboticist focused on enabling robots to perform complex manipulation tasks in uncertain environments populated by clutter and people. To this end, he founded the Personal Robotics Lab in 2005 and has acted as the principal investigator on numerous projects including the Quality of Life Technologies NSF Engineering Research Center, the Robotics Collaborative Technology Alliance, and the DARPA Robotics Challenge. He has developed and implemented groundbreaking robots such as HERB, ADA, CHIMP, and MuSHR, along with innovative software frameworks including OpenRAVE and DART. His award-winning algorithms, including CBiRRT, CHOMP, BIT*, Legibility, and LazySP, are widely utilized by roboticists around the world. Siddhartha earned his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 1999 and completed his Ph.D. in 2005 at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Besides his academic pursuits, he enjoys playing badminton, tennis, and previously captained the squash team at CMU, alongside participating in long-distance running competitions.
