Sidong Huang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at McGill University. His research focuses on utilizing functional genomic tools to study cancer-relevant pathways which guide cancer therapy. His laboratory aims to identify novel genes and networks that modulate the response to cancer drugs and uncover the genetic dependencies within cancer-relevant pathways that can be exploited therapeutically. Drug resistance remains a major clinical challenge in cancer therapy, as patients often respond to initial treatments but subsequently develop resistance. Dr. Huang’s work aims to uncover the mechanisms behind this resistance and devise treatment strategies to overcome it. Additionally, he explores genotype-directed cancer therapeutics targeting oncogenic mutations while aiming to identify vulnerabilities in hard-to-treat cancers that can be targeted therapeutically. He holds a PhD from the University of California, San Francisco, earned in 2003.
