Biography

Sijia Geng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. She is a core researcher member of the Data Science AI Institute and directs the Power Energy Network System Analysis (PENSA) Laboratory. Her research integrates methodologies from control theory, mathematical analysis, and optimization to address pressing challenges in complex networked energy systems. Geng’s work aims to drive the widespread use of renewable energy resources, enhance the resiliency and efficiency of energy systems, and develop rigorous theoretical frameworks and computational tools. Recent projects include developing frameworks for stability in power systems with inverter-based resources and data-driven techniques for nonlinear hybrid dynamical systems. She has been awarded multiple honors for her research and leadership, including the Rising Star in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 2021 and the Barbour Scholar at the University of Michigan in 2021. Her work has received funding from the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy.
