Professor Silke Gillessen is a Medical Oncologist specializing in genitourinary (GU) cancers. She completed her training at institutions including Basel, St. Gallen, and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. In January 2020, she was appointed Head of the Department of Medical Oncology at USI and serves as the Director at the Institute of Oncology in Southern Switzerland (IOSI) based in Lugano and Bellinzona. Her research focuses on precision oncology and novel treatments for prostate, testicular, and penile cancers, particularly addressing the challenges posed by metastatic prostate cancer.
