Biography

Silvana Konermann is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Stanford University, where she also serves as the Executive Director and Core Investigator at the Arc Institute. Her research laboratory focuses on understanding the molecular pathways that drive the development of Alzheimer’s disease through next-generation functional genomics. The long-term goal of her research is to develop rationally targeted therapeutics for neurodegenerative disorders. Silvana received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Her pioneering work on tools that directly perturb the transcriptomic landscape of cells using CRISPR has been recognized, leading to her appointment as a faculty member at the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub and as a Hanna Gray Fellow at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
