Biography

Silvania F. Pereira studied Physics in Brazil, receiving her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the University of Campinas. She obtained her Ph.D. in 1993 from the University of Texas, during which she spent several years conducting research at Caltech, California. Her Ph.D. thesis focused on experimental quantum optics. Silvania gained post-doctoral experience at the University of Constance in Germany after receiving the Humboldt fellowship and subsequently worked as a post-doctoral researcher for three years at the University of Leiden in The Netherlands. She has extensive research experience in both quantum and classical optics. Currently, she holds an Associate Professor position at Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands, where her research emphasizes topics such as diffraction, vectorial optics, optical far-field techniques, nanoparticle detection, and the characterization of nanostructures through optical metrology. Additionally, she is a board member of PhotonicsNL and is involved with the Dutch Portal for Optics and Photonics, as well as being part of the Dutch Network of Women Professors (LNVH). Silvania is active in the Women in Photonics Benelux LinkedIn Group.
