Silvia Bulfone-Paus is an Italian immunologist whose research focuses on the role of mast cells in tissue homeostasis and pathogenesis. She graduated with a degree in Medicine from the University of Turin in 1989 and completed her PhD in Genetics at Yale University in 1994. Since 2013, she has been a member of the Division of Musculoskeletal and Dermatological Sciences at the University of Manchester's Manchester Collaborative Centre for Inflammation Research. Her research interests particularly focus on mast cells, which are crucial in mediating allergy responses, autoimmunity, and inflammation, and the associated protective immune responses.
