Biography

Silvia Santini is an Associate Professor at the Università della Svizzera italiana, specifically in the Faculty of Informatics, since September 2016. Prior to this role, she was an Associate Professor at TU Dresden where she led the Embedded Systems Lab from July 2014 to August 2016. Before that, she served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at TU Darmstadt from October 2011 to July 2014, directing the Wireless Sensor Networks Lab. Her academic journey includes a postdoctoral research position with Prof. Friedemann Mattern's Distributed Systems Group in the Department of Computer Science at ETH Zurich from 2009 to 2011. In early 2011, she was a visiting scholar in Leonidas Guibas's research group at Stanford University. Dr. Santini completed her PhD supervision under Prof. Friedemann Mattern at ETH Zurich in 2009 and graduated with honors in Telecommunication Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome in 2004. Her research interests encompass Wireless Sensor Actuator Networks, Mobile Sensing, and Cyber-Physical Systems, significantly contributing to fields such as Ubiquitous Computing and the Internet of Things.
