Biography

Silvia Volante completed a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Earth Sciences at the University of Milan, Italy. In 2020, she obtained her PhD from Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia, where she was part of the Earth Dynamics Research Group. Her thesis was entitled "Laurentia Australia: structural, metamorphic, magmatic evolution Georgetown Inlier, NE Australia". After completing her PhD, she joined the Tectonics & Resources group at Ruhr-Universität Bochum in Germany as a postdoctoral researcher, focusing on early Earth processes and Archean reworked terrains. In February 2023, she established her own research group at ETH Zurich, combining Bachelor-level teaching with research. Her current research utilizes a multi-scale and multi-method approach to study the polydeformed and polymetamorphosed ancient terrains.
