Dr. Simin Fadaee

Biography

Simin Fadaee is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Manchester. Educated in Iran at the University of Tehran and in India at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Fadaee has also studied in South Africa at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and in Germany at the University of Freiburg. Prior to her current role, she worked at Humboldt University of Berlin. She has served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the British Sociological Association's flagship journal and currently holds an editorial position with Critical Sociology. As president of the International Sociological Association's Research Committee on Social Classes and Social Movements, Fadaee is influential in organizing significant conferences and research activities. Her research focuses on the theoretical and empirical aspects of social movements, revolutions, and social justice, particularly considering the dynamics of the North-South divide. Fadaee has conducted research in Iran, India, and Germany, contributing to the discourse on social movements' responsiveness to contemporary political landscapes. She actively supervises PhD students in related topics and is engaged with global issues related to sustainable development goals.
