Biography

Simon Gray Gregory is a distinguished professor at Duke Cancer Institute and holds the position of Director of the Brain Tumor Omics Program. He is also the Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Neurology and Director of the Molecular Genomics Core at the Duke Molecular Physiology Institute. Dr. Gregory's expertise as a neurogenomicist includes leading sequencing projects, particularly chromosome 1 in the Human Genome Project, to decode mechanisms that contribute to multi-factorial diseases through genetic, genomic, and epigenetic approaches. His research centers on the molecular processes involved in brain tumor development and progression as well as Alzheimer’s disease, drug-induced injuries to white matter, and multiple sclerosis. He is recognized as a leader in developing innovative single-cell spatial molecular technologies that offer insights into the pathogenic mechanisms of disease progression. Over his career at Duke, he has served in various key roles including being a Section Chair in Genomics and Epigenetics, and as an influential figure in the Duke Center of Autoimmunity and MS.
