Dr. Simon Griffin

Biography

Professor Simon Griffin is a leading researcher in the field of Public Health and General Practice at the University of Cambridge. He is the Group Leader of the Prevention Group at the Primary Care Unit and the Medical Research Council Epidemiology Unit, where he has made significant contributions to the understanding of non-communicable diseases, including obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. With a focus on translating epidemiological knowledge into preventive actions, Professor Griffin has led numerous randomized trials evaluating the effectiveness of various preventive approaches. His work includes the development of the diabetes risk score trial for screening type 2 diabetes, and he has authored over 350 publications throughout his career. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and an Honorary Professor at Aarhus University in Denmark. His extensive expertise in clinical epidemiology is backed by training from the University of Southampton and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Professor Griffin has been an important figure in public health research since joining the University of Cambridge in 1998, and he continues to contribute significantly to the field.
