Simon Gross received a BSc in Electrical Engineering and an MSc in Microelectronics from the Vienna University of Technology, Austria, in 2007 and 2008, respectively. He commenced his PhD in Physics at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, in 2013. He is currently an ARC DECRA research fellow at the MQ Photonics Research Centre at Macquarie University. His research interests include lasers and optics, particularly the interaction of ultrashort laser pulses with dielectrics, as well as the application of ultrafast lasers in optical materials processing, femtosecond laser direct-writing, and 3D photonic waveguide devices for telecommunications, astrophotonics, sensing, and information processing applications.
