Dr. Simon Humphrey

Biography

Simon Humphrey is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin. He was born in Wisbech, England, in 1979. Humphrey attended the University of East Anglia in Norwich from 1998 to 2002 and spent a year at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He subsequently obtained a Master of Chemistry degree (MChem) and moved on to the University of Cambridge from 2002 to 2005, where he completed his Ph.D. studying under Paul T. Wood, focusing on magnetic porous coordination polymer synthesis. Following his doctoral studies, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from 2005 to 2007, concentrating on nanoparticle catalysis. In recognition of his work, he undertook a Fellowship at St John's College, Cambridge. Humphrey joined the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin as an Assistant Professor in 2009, where he has focused his research on Materials Science, Nanoscience, and Inorganic Chemistry, contributing significantly to the field through various research initiatives.
