Simon N. Jacob is a neurologist and neurophysiologist known for his research on the cellular circuit basis of cognitive brain functions. His work is based on experimental methods that concentrate on developing technologies to improve treatments for disorders in the domains of perception, memory, and language. He studied medicine at the Universities of Freiburg and Heidelberg, University College London (UK), and Harvard University (USA). In 2006, he obtained his medical doctorate based on experimental neurophysiological research conducted at Yale University (USA). Following his doctorate, Jacob completed postdoctoral research at the Center for Integrative Neuroscience in Tübingen and became a board-certified neurologist through his training at Tübingen and Charité Berlin. In 2015, he established an interdisciplinary research group at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) dedicated to investigating neuronal mechanisms underlying cognitive brain functions, and he was appointed Professor of Translational Neurotechnology in 2019.
