Dr. Simon Jakobovits

Biography

Simon Jakobovits is a Melbourne-based Gastroenterologist with a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), including Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. He investigates and treats general gastroenterological complaints, focusing on supporting patients with IBD to manage their lifelong illness. Simon combines his public practice as a visiting specialist at Alfred Hospital with a private gastroenterology practice at Cabrini Medical Centre, where he offers endoscopy services to patients in Melbourne’s Western suburbs. He also sees uninsured patients in his private rooms and has a waiting list for endoscopic procedures at Alfred Hospital. In addition to treating patients, Simon dedicates time to educating the next generation of healthcare professionals. He teaches students at Monash University Medical School and has served as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Monash University, as well as a Lecturer at La Trobe University. Simon completed his physician training at Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and underwent Specialist Gastroenterology training at Western Hospital, Footscray Hospital, and St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne. He furthered his expertise by undertaking a research clinical fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, UK.
