Biography

Dr. Simon Kapaj is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Public Health Preventive Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. He holds an MD from the University of Tirana, Albania, and an MPH from the University of Saskatchewan, where he has also completed the Public Health Preventive Medicine Residency Program. His research interests encompass Environmental Health, Healthy Built Environments, Disaster Emergency Planning, and Community Engagement. He has worked on immunizations, occupational health and safety, and environmental public health, and has played a proactive role in addressing the challenges of infectious diseases and emergency planning. His contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic have been particularly vital, as he has been involved at the frontlines and continues to strengthen partnerships with community groups. Dr. Kapaj also supervises medical students and residents during their public health rotations as part of the University of Saskatchewan Public Health and Preventive Medicine residency program.
