Dr. Simon Kim

Biography

Simon Y. Kim is an Associate Professor at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design, specializing in architecture and urbanism. He is a licensed architect and researcher with a focus on applied sciences within these disciplines. As the director of the Immersive Kinematics Lab, Simon engages in innovative research funded by various notable organizations such as the National Science Foundation and the Pew Center for Arts and Humanities. His work has received support from numerous fellowships and residencies, including positions at MIT and the Seoul Biennale. Simon's collaborative efforts extend internationally, having worked with prestigious institutions such as Seoul National University and Harvard University. He has presented his work at leading conferences in the field, including IEEE and ACSA, and has contributed to projects for high-profile clients like the Smithsonian and MoMA. His academic journey includes teaching positions at MIT, Harvard, Yale, and the Architectural Association in London. Simon holds a Master of Science from MIT, with experience as a project architect under notable firms like Zaha Hadid and Gehry Technologies, enhancing his pedagogical focus on design and research.
