Biography

Simon Knight is an Associate Professor of Transplant Surgery at the University of Oxford, where he also serves as an Honorary Consultant Transplant Vascular Access Surgeon and the Director of the Centre for Evidence in Transplantation. He completed his undergraduate studies at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Science in 2000 and qualified as a doctor in 2002. He subsequently trained in Nottingham before joining Oxford in 2006 as a clinical research fellow in transplant surgery, during which he finished his Master of Surgery. Dr. Knight's research focuses on evidence-based transplant surgery, including the design and execution of clinical trials, optimization of post-transplant immunosuppression, and health informatics. He has co-chaired several national and international clinical trials and is involved in developing clinical practice guidelines within the European Society for Organ Transplantation and the British Transplantation Society. His interests also extend to health informatics, specifically clinical decision support tools, and he is currently investigating the use of machine learning in organ offer decision-making through his work in the AI Digital Health Lab.
