Dr. Simon Pacey

Biography

Simon Pacey is a Medical Oncology consultant physician with extensive experience in drug development and early phase experimental medicine clinical trials. He has led academic commercial studies as Principal Investigator and Chief Investigator at national and international levels. Appointed in 2011, Simon holds a PhD in Molecular Pharmacology from the Institute of Cancer Research at the University of London and completed Medical Oncology training rotations at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital Drug Development Unit. He currently serves as the Speciality Research Lead on the Cambridge Early Phase Oncology trials team and as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the Cambridge Clinical Research Centre and the Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit. His research focuses on early and localized prostate cancer drug development, particularly through “window” opportunity trials that investigate the effects of novel drug treatments. Simon has led a significant clinical trial portfolio in collaboration with the Early Cancer Institute, Cambridge, developing assays for the detection of ctDNA in prostate cancer. His work has been funded by grants from organizations including the Prostate Cancer Foundation and AstraZeneca. He has directed 32 studies to date, providing novel therapy options for patients through early clinical trials. His research design aims to improve treatment understanding, with studies involving patients providing samples for detailed examination of human prostate cancer.
