Biography

Simon Parkin is an Assistant Professor at TU Delft specializing in human-centered security within the Cybersecurity group. His research focuses on usability perceptions of security-related technologies, security behavior change, security economics, and decision-making in security management. Before joining TU Delft, Simon served as a Senior Research Fellow at UCL from 2012 to 2020. He completed his PhD at Newcastle University in 2007 and later worked as a Research Associate in 2011, as well as a member of the Innovation Team at HP from mid-2012. Simon has expertise in the interactions between security devices and users, particularly concerning the behavior of employees and decision-makers regarding internet security. His significant publications include a 2022 paper on a cyber-risk framework for coordination in behavioral prevention and a 2021 study on the learning of emergent interventions in smart home security.
