Professor Dr. Simon Parzen Johnson

Biography

Simon Parzen-Johnson, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago. He specializes in Pediatrics and is focused on enhancing medical education and antimicrobial stewardship. Parzen-Johnson serves as the Director of the pediatric antimicrobial stewardship service at Comer Children’s Hospital, a role that aims to improve drug selection, reduce antibiotic expenditures, and subsequently improve patient outcomes. He oversees clinical rotations for fourth-year medical students from the Pritzker School of Medicine, ensuring valuable experience and education. His academic interests encompass the intersection of medical education with diagnostic stewardship, utilizing electronic health records and in-person discussions to optimize resource utilization for pediatric care. Parzen-Johnson completed his medical training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, followed by a pediatric residency at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland and a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, affiliated with Northwestern University.
