Biography

Simon Shogry is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Oxford and a Tutorial Fellow at Brasenose College. He obtained his Ph.D. in Classical Philosophy from Princeton University in 2016, following his undergraduate studies in philosophy at Claremont McKenna College. His academic journey includes postdoctoral work at Princeton University and lectureships at the University of Pennsylvania and the College of New Jersey. His research interests are primarily in Ancient Philosophy, focusing on Stoic and Epicurean logic and ethics, as well as Platonic and Aristotelian moral psychology. Shogry has published several works, including a forthcoming book titled 'Stoic Eros' with Cambridge University Press in 2024, and a paper discussing Seneca's use of dialectic for moral improvement in Ancient Philosophy. He teaches undergraduate courses on ancient philosophy and ethics.
