Biography

Simon Young is a full-time member of the Law Faculty at the University of Western Australia, having joined in 2005. He previously spent four years at a national law firm and eight years at Queensland University of Technology. In 2014, he became a Professor of Law and Justice at the University of Southern Queensland in his hometown of Toowoomba, while also holding the position of Adjunct Professor at UWA. His expertise lies in public law, especially administrative law and Indigenous law policy, particularly in relation to native title. Young has published books and articles in prestigious Australian, Canadian, and UK legal journals. His postgraduate work, which focused on comparative native title, was awarded the Robert Street Prize, and his PhD thesis made significant contributions to the field. He has received several teaching awards, including the UWA Blackstone Society Award for Law Teacher of the Year. Young also provides expert advice to government agencies and has been involved in several national and international collaborations.
