Biography

Simone Cenci is a Lecturer in Economics, Finance, and Sustainability at University College London, where he also serves as Deputy Director of Research at the UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources. His research focuses on how corporations allocate capital to low-carbon activities and the pathways for decarbonisation that align with global climate targets. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he developed nonparametric approaches to explain and predict how populations respond and adapt to environmental changes. Before joining UCL, he was an Advanced Research Fellow at Imperial College London and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Blackstone Credit, a firm specializing in corporate credit strategies. Cenci is currently a Rising Leaders Fellow at the Aspen Institute UK and a member of the Science Based Targets initiative Expert Advisory Group, contributing to the development of standards for the power sector. He welcomes opportunities to collaborate with partners in industry, government, and non-governmental organizations on issues related to climate finance policy.
