Biography

Simone Glanert is a distinguished professor at the University of Kent, specializing in comparative law, legal translation, and interpretation, as well as animal law. She holds a PhD from Sorbonne University and an LLM from Cornell University. As a Reader at Kent Law School, she directs the Kent Centre for European Comparative Law and the 2+2 Programme with Aix-Marseille Université in France. Glanert has published extensively, including the monograph 'De la traductibilité du droit' (Dalloz, 2011), which provides a critical assessment of the limits of legal translation from an interdisciplinary perspective. Her edited volumes include 'Comparative Law – Engaging Translation' (Routledge, 2014) and 'Law’s Hermeneutics: Investigations' (Routledge, 2017). She has co-authored 'Rethinking Comparative Law' (Elgar, 2021) and is a regular guest editor for various journals, including the upcoming special issue on Comparative Animal Law in the Global Journal of Animal Law (2024). Glanert has acted as a visiting professor in several countries, including Canada, France, Qatar, Romania, and Switzerland, and is an active member of editorial boards, contributing significantly to the field of comparative legal studies.
