Biography

Simone Sepe is a Professor at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law, holding the Honourable Frank Iacobucci Chair in Capital Markets Regulation. With a cross-appointment at the Rotman School of Management in Finance, his expertise encompasses business organizations, corporate finance, contract theory, law and economics, empirical methods, and law philosophy. Professor Sepe has taught at esteemed law schools including the University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, Northwestern University, University of Notre Dame, and University of Arizona, where he held the Chester H. Smith Professorship in Law and Finance. He is also a Faculty Affiliate at the Center for Philosophy of Freedom at the University of Arizona and an academic member of the European Corporate Governance Institute as well as a Fellow at the American College of Governance Counsel. Before academia, Professor Sepe practiced banking law and structured finance with Clifford Chance in London and worked as an investment banker at Fortress Investment Group in London and New York. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Arizona and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Toulouse School of Economics, among other degrees.
