Biography

Professor Sin-Wang Chong is a Visiting Professor at King's Business School, King's College London. He is the Director of the International Education Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of St Andrews, where he founded the Centre for International Language Teacher Education Research (CILTER) and served as its inaugural director. His previous roles include Associate Professor in Language Education at the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh. Professor Chong's research focuses on evidence synthesis and communication tailored for educators, administrators, and policymakers, specifically in the spheres of language education and teacher preparation. He has authored 70 publications in prestigious journals and has led research projects totaling £3 million, funded by the British Council, Education Endowment Foundation, and the Nuffield Foundation. He serves on numerous editorial boards, including as Founding Editor-in-Chief of Research Synthesis Applied Linguistics and the St Andrews Journal of International Language Education. He is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, recognized among the top 2% researchers in Education from 2023 to 2025 according to the Elsevier-Stanford List. Professor Chong is currently accepting PhD students and is engaged in research initiatives focused on innovative leadership and educational development.
