Biography

Sina Blassnig is a full professor of digital communication and datafication at the University of Fribourg. She serves as the director of the Institute for Digital Communication and Media Innovation, in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons. Sina is responsible for a joint Master's degree program in 'Digital Communication and Creative Media Production'. She studied communication science and political science at the University of Zurich, where she completed her doctorate on populist online communication. Previously, she was a senior research and teaching associate in the Department of Communication Science and Media Research at the University of Zurich, and a visiting scholar at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Amsterdam School of Communication Research. Her research interests include digital communication, digital journalism, media innovation, political communication, and comparative media systems. Her current research focuses on how artificial intelligence affects audience behaviors and media content production on digital platforms.
