I am the director of the Vision and Image Processing (VIP) Laboratory. My colleagues and I investigate and improve early diagnostic methods and find new imaging biomarkers for ocular and neurological diseases. Our work includes developing automatic artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to detect, segment, and quantify anatomical and pathological structures seen in medical images. I focus on efficient signal processing based methods to overcome theoretical and practical limitations that constrain the achievable resolution of imaging devices. This includes developing robust extraction and fusion methods relevant to various imaging systems including ophthalmic SD-OCT and digital X-ray mammography. I am pursuing statistical signal processing projects in areas such as super-resolution, demosaicing, deblurring, denoising, motion estimation and compressive sensing/adaptive sampling.
