Dr. Sina Ghaemi

Biography

Sina Ghaemi is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta. He earned his Ph.D. cum laude in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology between 2009 and 2013. Prior to this, he completed his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta and his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering at Sharif University of Technology. Ghaemi's research primarily focuses on aerodynamics and fluid mechanics. His work encompasses various aspects of turbulent flows, including wall-bounded turbulent flows and wake flows. He is actively involved in investigating methods for turbulent drag reduction through the use of polymeric additives and surfactants. His research also involves advanced measurement techniques such as volumetric velocimetry and tomographic particle image velocimetry (PIV), as well as Lagrangian particle tracking. Ghaemi teaches courses such as Applied Thermodynamics, Aerodynamics, and Turbulent Fluid Dynamics, contributing to the development of future engineers in the field.
