Biography

Sindri Magnússon is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at Stockholm University, specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. He completed his B.Sc. degree in Mathematics at the University of Iceland and his M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2017. Sindri has also completed a postdoctoral research term at Harvard University and has extensive research interests that include data-driven decision-making in complex systems, control, and optimization. He focuses on developing methods for reliable operations in large-scale interconnected systems, and particularly studies multi-agent learning and reinforcement learning algorithms. His work critically examines fairness and bias in AI decision-making, striving for socially responsible applications. Siddri has led several significant research projects funded by the Swedish Research Council, including projects on resource-constrained machine learning and federated reinforcement learning. He is an Associate Editor for the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking and plays an active role in multiple technical program committees. With over 70 peer-reviewed publications, his research is recognized in top AI venues such as NeurIPS and ICML. He teaches several courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, focusing on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and has mentored more than 30 master's theses.
