Dr. Sinead Gormally

Biography

Deputy Head of School Strategy Planning for the School of Education and a Professor of Community Development and Youth. A qualified community youth work practitioner with experience working in the UK and abroad with a range of communities and young people. Her current research focuses broadly on social justice and equality, analyzing how youth and community practitioners create positive social change. Specific areas of interest include the impacts of violence and conflict on individuals and communities. She teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Education, contributing to a range of courses including Community Development and Youth Work, Social Justice, and Rights-based work. She also holds additional roles, including being a Member of the Executive Committee of the Community Learning Development Standards Board Scotland and a Member of the Board of Trustees for the International Association for Community Development. Her research encompasses Youth Work and Community Development, emancipatory praxis, peacebuilding, and evaluating the impact of youth work in various contexts.
