Biography

Sinead Harrington, OTD, OTR/L, CAPS, received Bachelor's in Health Science and Master's in Occupational Therapy from Quinnipiac University. She earned her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University. Her doctoral project investigated occupational therapy interventions supporting effective self-management and health advocacy for clients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Sinead has presented at national conferences on the use of artificial intelligence in occupational therapy and its impact on the profession and education. Prior to her role at NYU, she served as a full-time Assistant Professor at Iona University in the Master's Occupational Therapy program and was an adjunct faculty member at Mercy University. She has also completed an advanced certification in aging in place (CAPS), which enables her to evaluate and match the needs of clients with their home environments. Currently, Sinead serves as an accreditation reviewer for the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE), allowing her to evaluate and visit occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant schools across the United States. Programs at NYU Steinhardt’s occupational therapy program educate aspiring occupational therapists, preparing credentialed professionals to further develop their practices.
