Biography

Siobhan Oca's research focuses on medical robotics and robotics education. Specifically, she is interested in developing safe and effective autonomous medical procedures. Her doctoral research concentrated on the development of an autonomous ultrasound scanning robotic arm, where she implemented a human study to assess trust and safety. As a faculty member, she studies the methods used in teaching robotics to understand the efficacy of student learning and their perceptions of robotics in their future careers. She leads Master's programs in Robotics at the Thomas Lord Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, and is passionate about developing curricula that prepares students for the future impacts of robotics on society. Her research interests also include case studies on ethics in robotics and autonomous systems education.
