Biography

Siqi Zheng is the STL Champion Professor of Urban Real Estate Sustainability at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he leads the MIT Sustainable Urbanization Lab and the MIT China Future City Lab. He specializes in urban environmental economics and policy, focusing on environmental sustainability and place-based policies for self-sustaining urban growth. With extensive experience, he has published in prestigious journals such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Nature Human Behaviour, Journal of Economic Literature, and many others. He co-authored the book 'Blue Skies Beijing: Economic Growth and the Environment in China' published by Princeton University Press in 2016. Professor Zheng has held significant positions, including President of the Asian Real Estate Society and Board Member of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA). He has also served as an Associate Editor for several economic journals. Before joining MIT, he directed the Hang Lung Center for Real Estate at Tsinghua University, where he also completed his Ph.D. in urban development and real estate in 2005, followed by post-doctoral research at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design.
