Biography

Siran Zhan is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Management and Governance at UNSW Business School. She co-leads a research cluster on strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, applying a psychological lens to investigate complex issues related to innovation and entrepreneurship. Her work highlights various social (such as culture) and individual (including identity, cognition, and emotions) determinants that impact creative entrepreneurial performance. In her recent research program, Siran examines the implications of entrepreneurship for career trajectories, particularly the effects of entrepreneurial experimentation on individual entrepreneurs and talent management in organizations. Additionally, she coaches aspiring entrepreneurs through UNSW's undergraduate and postgraduate programs and has co-designed a 10-week incubator-style startup course aimed at equipping students with critical lean startup methodology skills, including design thinking, problem identification, ideation, and pitching. Siran has successfully trained over 1000 students to develop and pitch numerous startup ideas and has fostered innovation projects in local communities. She actively seeks collaborations with researchers and industry partners to generate research-based insights and solutions that promote innovation and effective management of entrepreneurial talents.
