Biography

Siri Wassrin is a Lecturer at Linköping University specializing in the difficulties and possibilities of innovative design. Her research examines how technological progress impacts design practices and the meanings and identities that arise from this engagement. Through her licentiate thesis, Wassrin demonstrated the challenges associated with designing innovative technology, particularly how prevailing understandings can restrict design possibilities. She conducts qualitative case studies within the Swedish public sector, employing a sociomaterial perspective guided by Barad’s agential realism. In her ongoing PhD research, she aims to analyze how innovations are supported and nurtured within design processes, exploring the interaction between material-discursive practices and the potential for innovative design.
