Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Sirinart Ananvoranich. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Sirinart Ananvoranich is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Windsor. He obtained his Ph.D. from Concordia University. His primary research interest lies in studying the biochemical mechanisms of the obligate intracellular parasite, Toxoplasma gondii. This protozoan parasite infects an estimated one-third of North Americans and is widely spread across the globe. Infections are generally asymptomatic in healthy adults but can be devastating for neonates and immunocompromised individuals. T. gondii is a known causative agent of congenital toxoplasmosis, which is a leading cause of neurological birth defects, as well as toxoplasmic encephalitis in AIDS patients. His lab focuses on using antisense ribozyme technology to disrupt the parasite's nucleotide salvage pathway with the ultimate aim of exploiting these techniques to attack the essential mechanisms of the parasite's pathogenicity, invasion, and differentiation.
Includes Mechanical, Automotive, and Materials Engineering streams.
